Cason Crystal Clear Color Preserver II
Like Cason's Crystal Clear I, Crystal Clear II is an advanced polymer system that does a superior job of preserving color for all thread types, including metallics. It is unique, however, in that it is a water based product that is completely clear in the bottle. By using new polymer technology this product has achieved a completely clear color preservative that is a solution as opposed to a dispersion or suspension. It is clear in the bottle and remains clear on the wrap.
Use two or more coats to achieve superior results. Wick off any excess preserver with your brush, and break any bubbles by dipping your application brush into plain water and then lightly touching the bubbles or foam with the brush. Turn the rod for the first five or 10 minutes. As with all color preservatives you should be careful to full cover the treated area with a quality finish.
Application Instructions
CCWB is unique in that it is a solution of polymers in water. Other water based CP's are dispersions that have a milky, opaque appearance. CCWB is clear from the moment it is put onto the thread, with no cloudiness or hazing as can be seen in other products. CCWB is recommended for all thread except for Silk. For Silk the original Crystal Clear is recommended. Silk thread is a very difficult material to preserve, and the solvent based product consistently yields superior results for Silk. For the inlay of dried Snake Skins CCWB is recommended. For work with feathers the solvent based Crystal Clear product yields superior results. We recommend that you apply two coats of CCWB (full strength) to the thread wraps, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly. When first applied there will be a significant darkening of the thread, particularly when applied to Madeira thread. This is normal. Simply allow each coat to dry thoroughly (preferably overnight) before proceeding to the next step.
We recommend that you apply this product full strength. If you wish to dilute it use de-mineralized water with a small amount of household ammonia added. However, dilution increases the number of coats needed to achieve full protection. 50% dilutions will double the number of coats necessary to assure adequate protection.
. Do not speed up the drying process with a heat gun or a hair drier. This can cause the polymers to shift into a glass-like form that can affect the color of the thread. It is also likely to blow dust onto your artwork. If you wish to speed up the drying process then simply keep the workspace warm and dry, or in the alternative place the section of rod into a heated drying box. Prior to putting an epoxy coat onto the treated thread please allow a drying time of no less than 24 hours. Drying in a heated rod finish box is recommended for the highest quality results.
Do not apply CCWP so heavily that it puddles. If that occurs then use your brush to wick the excess material from the thread. The thread should be wet, not dripping. If bubbles form during application then dip the brush that is filled with CP in water and lightly touch any bubbles. This breaks the surface tension and allows any such bubbles to pop.
Clean the brush with soap and water.

Cason's Crystal Clear Color Preserver ("Crystal Clear") is a solvent based product that produces superior results as compared with all other color preservers on the market today. As with the water based product, the polymers used are not expected to cause any ill effects. Since this product involves the use of solvents additional precautions must be taken.
If this product comes into contact with the eyes then pain that is disproportionate to any damage that might be done may occur. Immediately flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention. In the event of contact with the skin then wash thoroughly with warm soapy water. Extensive contact with the skin or exposure to vapors may cause drowsiness. Small amounts swallowed incidentally as a result of normal handling are not likely to cause injury; however, swallowing large amounts can cause injury. Therefore use adequate ventilation at all times and don't drink the product. It tastes terrible. If the product has spilled and has dried you can remove it with acetone.
Crystal Clear is Flammable, and should be kept away from any ignition sources at all times. Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. In case of fire, use water, dry chemical, chemical foam, or alcohol-resistant foam.
